Xewkija, Gozo is situated between Mgarr Harbour and Vicoria. The oldest village in Gozo, its Parish dates back to 1678. Xwekija is famous for its Rotunda church dedicated to St John The Baptist. On the outskirts of Xewkija one can find the Gozo branches of the University of Malta, ETC offices and the Gozo football stadium. Historical findings at Xewkija dated back to Arabic times.

Gozo College Xewkija Primary School
Xewkija Primary school dates back to 1861 and at the time it catered only for boys. In 1862, a second school was opened for girls and in 1937 both school were moved to two different premises in Triq it-Tiġrija. In 1958, a new spacious school was opened in Triq il-Ħamrija. The school caters for children aged 3yrs up to 11yrs. Schools all have libraries and Xewkija Primary School is no exception. However in 2002, the Local Council took over the running and administration of the library. The library was completely renovated and was inaugurated on 23rd November 2002.
