Paola is situated in the south eastern region of Malta and it is well known for the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, its large parish church, the square with shopping centres, the Good Friday procession and its football club, Hibernians F.C.. At Paolo one can also find the only mosque in Malta, as well as an Islamic Cultural Centre. There are two Parish Churches, one is dedicated to Christ the King and the other to Our Lady of Lourdes. The feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the 4th Sunday of July whilst the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated on the 1st Sunday after 17th August.

Mater Boni Consigli (St Joseph) – Paola
Marter Boni Consigli also know as St Joseph is a Church school and entry is through a ballot system. This is a girls only school and caters for ages 4 yrs and 12 years. The school currently has approximately 245 students. It aims at creating a team of dedicated professionals and give its students a holistic education, by developing their individual, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, creative and physical potential to the full. During the 19th century, when the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition settled in Malta, they were the first to open schools and cater for children in need. Their first presences was in Valletta and Sliema and both benefited. In 1910 the Sisters opened the Mater Boni Consigli in Paola and through time due to high demand new premises were opened. In 1980 circumstances demanded the amalgamation of the 3 upper Forms of Mater Boni Consigli with the Blata l-Bajda School. The Millennium Project saw the building of an annex on the premises, consisting of a Gym, A Computer Lab, Art room and others. The complex was opened in 2001.
