St. Clare College San Gwann Primary School

The kindergarten block, consisting of around nineteen classrooms and fun-filled activities varying on a daily basis, has been part of the St. Clare College San Gwann Primary School in San Gwann since late 2015 as part of a project involving the renovation and construction of schools across the Maltese island. Development began in August 2014. To date, the school has welcomed approximately six hundred students and has seen an increase in foreign students. Moreover, the school has been awarded the green for the seventh consecutive time and works closely with Eko Skola and the LEAF committee. Year 4 to Year 6 students are supplied with tablets as per pilot project. As this school is inclusive, one can find a multi-sensory learning centre catering for autistic pupils.

The kindergarten school uniform consists of a polo shirt, shorts or trousers, slippers and white or grey socks. Uniforms are available at Yorkie Uniforms in San Gwann just a few minutes away from Mater Dei Hospital, or they can be bought online from their website. Delivery for orders exceeding €75 is complimentary. A new uniform is to be proposed for the scholastic year 2020-2021 for students of Kinder 1, Year 1, Year 7 and Year 9 including a polo shirt, t-shirts, shorts, cap and jacket.

A week prior to the commencement of the new scholastic year, a meeting is held in the hall and addressed by the head of school and other staff members, followed by a classroom meeting between the parents, pupils and their assigned teacher.

The academic year begins in late September (or early October) and ends in June, half-days are from 8:15 to 12:00pm.

Activities and special occasions include:

  • Fun sports activities (water games, tug of war, penalty shoot out) for Father’s day, participants include fathers, grandfathers, uncles, stepfathers while bearing in mind only one participant per child is accepted. Mothers are more than welcome to support the participant!

  • San Gwann spring village
  • Prom night for Year 6 pupils at school outdoor area

Breakfast club students go on the daily walk around the school for twenty minutes before classes start. Breakfast is provided in the kindergarten block for all students.

Want to free up space in your child’s room? Have you any unwanted toys? San Gwann’s breakfast club accepts donations of toys, board games and books as long as they are in good condition to launch a library for children between the ages of three and eleven, as well as to enhance the playing area.

The campus works in conjunction with St. Bernard’s Safety Training Centre to organize a paediatric emergency first aid course for parents and legal guardians. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of attendance valid for three years. A fee of €25 applies and must be sent with child in a sealed envelope.

The St. Clare College is a few walks away from LIDL and the Karin Grech public area and playing field.
