Qormi

Qormi is one of the largest towns on the island, being situated in the centre, however it is only in recent years that it has become inhabited. There are no archaeological evidence of pre-historic inhabitants in the area and even the findings of some Punic and Roman tombs containing pottery and human remains, indicate that it was a very small community.  There are various sports clubs, band and music clubs in Qormi.  The rivalry between the two village feasts can still be felt nowadays.   The first Parish Church was dedicated to St. George however after the plague hit hard the town of Qormi, a memorial to St. Sebastian was built when it was over and as the town grew and new Parish developed.  Qormi is also renowned for the number of bakeries.

First Steps Malta at PWC
