Santa Venera is a municipality between Birkirkara and Hamrun, situated in the central region of Malta within the northern harbour district. Population was estimated to be around 6,932 as of March 2014. Originally, Santa Venera used to be part of Birkirkara until 1912. The local council government structure was introduced in 1993.
Several apartments, eateries and shops have been launched in lieu of the 7Up factory which shut down in 2002. Awardees of Gieh Santa Venera, awarded to figures who have left an indelible impact on Santa Venera, include founder of ALS Malta Bjorn Formosa and Mario Coleiro.
One can also find historical sites such as the reconstructed Wignacourt Arch, Casa Leoni and the Wignacourt Aqueduct. Feasts are celebrated on the last Sunday of July and November 14th.
