It is said that one day, Anglu Grech beheld a vision just across the spring. Our Lady invited him to raise a statue in her honour on a lip of land close by. Anglu Grech recounted his apparition to a number of families, who immediately started collecting money to commission a stone stature of Our Lady of Loreto. Once the statue and niche were built, people would gather around it and recite the Rosary.
